In this work KATSU portrays titan of technology Elon Musk merged with a second demonic self inspired by the mythological Japanese “Oni” character representing darkness. The digital sculpture expresses the duality between pop culture innovation and the dark industrialism which leaves millions disenfranchised and strips the planet of resources.
Dark Tech 1 is the first of the 4 NFT series and has a physical IRL installation titled “BITS” at Ever Gold Projects in San Francisco. The exhibition lasts from March 31, 2021 until May 1, 2021.
