A collaboration between me and Stelcart (superrare.co/stelcart), Cleopatra embodies a clash of the ancient and the modern. She walks in her home setting, amongst palms and pyramids, but is thrown into time displacement through street art, flashing lights and a selfie stick. The character of Cleopatra herself was drawn by Stelcart and carries her signature two-dimensional, outlined illustrative technique. The rest of the piece, as well as the animations, are unmistakably the work of my self, executed in my organic, free hand Basquiat-esque method. Details not to be missed are the jaguar's studded collar, Egyptian god Anubis, and the red and yellow Burj Al Arab. I chose a roughly drawn Jaguar to accompany Cleopatra in the foreground to highlight the contrast in techniques, alluding to a "beauty" and a "beast".
