In a matchup billed as "Heavyweight History", Mike Tyson faced off against Larry Holmes on January 22, 1988, at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, New Jersey. After a few back-and-forth rounds, Tyson turned on the jets in Round 4, knocking Holmes down twice before ending the bout with a vicious right hook that dropped Holmes for the third time in the round. Shortly after, referee Joe Cortez stopped the fight and awarded Tyson the victory, improving his record to 33-0 while retaining his stranglehold on the unified WBA/WBC/IBF world titles.
