New video from original 1984 algorithmic art, historical and collectable, created on micro computers. Micro Arts Group MA1 "Abstract Originals" 1984 with 7 algorithmic generative art pieces. Now one 3D video of all 7 pieces, with 80s synth soundtrack by Etalon. Original art by Geoff Davis. Video Patryk Jaworski. 84 piece edition as the algorithmic art was created in 1984. Micro Arts was a public art group with an inclusive policy, and distributed the art by data cassette and later national Prestel teletext (pre-internet). Will be supplied as 4k video. This is display video.

The data cassette inner said: “A colourful experience for you and your VDU. These mobile graphics can be colour coded to fit your décor. The colour, timing and repetition can also be controlled, giving a responsive art display to enhance your next dinner or cocktail party, union meeting or conference.”

The title was put in quotes – “Abstract Originals” – because they were not individually original (rather, generated from original code) and not abstract in the sense of abstracted from reality – they were code reality. This addresses the usual complaint that generated computer art is not art in the traditional sense (made with paintbrushes, chisels etc.). Micro Arts Group work is now in national UK's Computer Art Archives (related to the famous CAS), and was exhibited in 2021 with an academic paper. Website at microartsgroup.com
