Jean Shrimpton (1942- ), known by her nickname ‘The Shrimp’ is an English model who became one of the most successful of the decade of the 1960s. She came to define, as a style icon, the era of Youthquakers, Mods and Swingers for whom she became the emulative ‘it girl.’ She’s arguably most famed for putting the miniskirt on the map, when she caused an international scandal on a trip to Australia by wearing one to the Victoria Derby races. This piece is my reinterpretation of the famous Avedon photograph of her with the hairstyle formed into a large cube. It represents the enormous jumble of thoughts in our head combined with the barrage of information we now receive at all times seemingly without a break, growing like a to-do-list fatberg until it becomes overwhelming.
