Each of the Dr. Kush episodes are a study in light and shadow. Dr. Kush’s hand painted musicians play their instruments on a nightclub stage. The expressionism in the characters sets the mood of the piece. The director, cameraman and lighting technician is KUSH who has spent many years in the music business practicing stagecraft. Kush placed lights and cameras in 3D space in After Effects to simulate what would be happening in the real world. Here, he can control the action directly and bring the viewer in even closer to the subject. The guitar player in the recording is b. kush, who intentionally improvised this riff in one take at the request of KUSH.
