Cryptoart’s “Fountain” moment is probably going to be defined by the moment that Super Rare censored ROBNESS’s “64 Gallon Toter” NFT. “Fountain” was a piece of urinal art by Marcel Duchamp in 1917 that sparked the debate about what constitutes art. The very first trash GIF by ROBNESS titled, “64 Gallon Toter” has sparked an eerily similar debate, with this very first trash art GIF being taken down from the Super Rare website in 2020.

The trash art movement now has taken on a life of its own with hundreds of artists incorporating this iconic toter in their NFTs. This art is a tribute to the overwhelmingly huge creative spirit of ROBNESS. When I look at ROBNESS’s body of work, I see an immense creative spirit emerge. I tried to capture that spirit in my art.
