Since I began chasing extreme weather in 2015, I've always envisioned capturing a lightning strike hitting this monolithic structure south of Tucson, Arizona. This peak, called "Elephant Head" for its similarity to an elephant from this angle, is a well-known rock climbing destination for professionals and can be seen for miles on the drive south of Tucson. After countless attempts to capture a strike since 2015, the day finally came on August 27th, 2021 as my camera captured this soliltary bolt appearing to veer around a tiny cloud before slamming right into Elephant Head.
