This piece is a jewelry box resembling an ancient treasure chest decorated with a Prachamyam pattern(four-petal flower). The gold niello technique was used. The inside of the chest is lined with leather. Silver niello was applied to enhance its prominence in certain parts of the chest. The Prachamyam pattern is often used to decorate the columns, door frames and windows of Ubosot(Buddhist temple), Vihara, castle pavilion, Chedi and Buddha relics. In the past, it was used as a guard to prevent theft. There may be a spell as well.
