This Polaroid 8x10 inches was shot at the entrance of a village in the Omo River valley in Ethiopia in 1992. By this time was basically no influence from the Western World in that area and me, my girlfriend and our driver had to survive with those American nutrition bars which are send to Africa to help the local population. To get there from Addis Ababa we got a Toyota 4x4 vehicle from an NGO and we had to sleep in Catholic missions. The trip was very dangerous, but we made it.

The Polaroid Ethnic Collection collection image

Between 1988 and 1992 I travel the world with my girlfriend and mostly with a special 4x4 camper to know local population and their culture and traditions to compare with our western culture which didn't respect, in my opinion, most values related to the nature, the environments and the education. Unfortunately, after 3 decades the modern society developed only good tools, but what about worst human relations, useless wars and the global pollution? I recommend to look deeply into the eyes of those persons I photographed to know their answers. Those photos where made with large Polaroids 809 color films, in the size 8x10 inches and digitally scanned in unique photos, to preserve the authenticity of those people and the pride of their unique culture. The collection has about 50 original Polaroid and some are now available in NFT to preserve their unicity.
