Concept:

“People only die when we forget them” through this statement 2D AFTERLIFE explore the life after death of fictional characters from popular media of anime, manga, and video games. Lives on within the remains of parasocial relationship among fans, these characters are being remembered once more via oil portraits by Pan Jinnipha, as a form of fan participatory culture. Digitalized into permanent domain and existence, they can now carry on to the afterlife knowing many will recall them always.

Pan Jinnipha, an aspire Thai female artist has passion for anime and popular culture. She believes that the cultures, seemingly for kids, is actually for all even the mature. She has been making a series of fictional character’s afterlife project since her time at the Visual Arts Programs, Srinakharinwirot University, conceptualized it by her own feelings toward the death of beloved anime characters. Jinnipha and her team is currently developing the work as a "2D Afterlife" scheduled to be her first solo exhibition, to be display at Palette Artspace in July 2021. As a preview for another 50, visit Jinnipha and celebrate with her the life of the memorable 6 characters at Mango Art Festival, 3-6 April, Lhong 1919.
