Single Edition 1/1 NFT Art Collection by Alann J.

If you have been following me and my art for a while, or if you know me as a friend, then you know I am a story teller. With all the tell-tale signs of ADD, I utter story after story without any apparent link in similarity to each other. That is because I don’t think “in a straight line”. My thoughts come in seemingly random sequences to form a visual image in my head that can then take me in any of 100 different directions depending on which thought holds the most adventure for me. When dating, my most feared question to be asked was “What are you thinking?” To explain even the slightest piece of what I might have had going on in my mind's eye was certain to cause my date to wonder if I was put together right at the factory. So... enter my friend Jim. Recently divorced, Jim would regale me with stories about his online dating experiences that sent my mind to back to the days of my life before I found the ONE person on the planet who found my mind to be a wonderful place to hang out at. This painting captures that moment when the date is caught off guard when asked what he is thinking. The code I used is gibberish, but it serves as a pseudo hiding place for the number 35, which is created by bold numbers scattered amongst a background of much thinner numbers. To see 35 clearly, simply squint your eyes and look at the thought bubble containing the binary code above the black robot’s head. On the original painting the robot's green eyes blink on and off by utilizing cheap LED Christmas lights my wife picked up for me on a whim one day. She thought they may come in useful to me someday, and she was right… how could she know what I was thinking?

Although Alann attended the Colorado Institute of Art for Advertising design, he is self-taught as a painter. Formerly a Super Realist, Alann has recently turned his brushes in a new direction, creating a completely new genre he calls Mechanical Surrealism. Known in the art circles for his rusted robots living life in much the same way we humans do, he has been nicknamed the "Painter of Rust". Alann's work is typically oil on canvas (or wood since painting #26) infused with found and harvested objects he collects specifically for his art. You will see nothing else like it anywhere you travel, and anywhere you look, because there is only one "painter of rust".
