I was tired when I finished the art journal spread for this collab. So so tired. And working symmetrically always throws me off. When I painted this Hugamonster it ended up in my journal upside-down. My first thought was “this is going to annoy me every time I flip through this journal for the rest of my life.” But I realized that as always, my art journals capture moments in time. This moment will be the time I had so much going on I didn’t stop to make sure things were right side up. This moment is me being proud of having so many opportunities to create and share my work that I can barely keep up. This moment will be one where I choose to embrace imperfection and laugh at a damn upside-down Hugamonster rather than criticize myself for messing it up. All of these moments are beautiful. I’m so grateful and lucky.

A global group of artists has united through their appreciation and development of mirrored images.

Initially inspired by the Rorschach test, each artist with their unique style has approached the concept of reflection resulting in an original collection of 22 mind-bending mirrored pieces.

Works from this collaborative are diverse in media, including painting, photography, printmaking and stop motion animation, yet all are intrinsically linked through their celebration of the mirrored image.
