Robert Ouellette has exhibited with some of the world's leading creators. This Western Red Cedar found in Vancouver’s Stanley Park is between 500 and 700 years old. It survived logging in the 19th century, urbanisation in the 20th, and destructive wind storms in the 21st. Like many trees in British Columbia’s lower mainland, it is increasingly threatened by a warming climate. Wandering through the park past this giant tree offers a journey back in time to an age when the mountains met the ocean creating a cradle for the largest living creatures on the planet.
