Growing up and being a young surfer while watching Sunny in his prime was inspiring and exciting moment in my childhood. His current decline in mental health and battles with depression have turned a surfing legend into a man in need of love and support in his darkest of times. At this moment it is uncertain of his condition but I honor him with this photograph that I captured moments after he left the water in Waimea.
