You’ve used social proof before if you’ve looked at user ratings while downloading an app or buying a product. Social proof is our tendency to look for unanimous feedback and then, to follow it. This is especially true when we lack information. A trivial example is when you see a long queue outside a store and join it. Social proof can also be used to manipulate us. When deciding, try snapping out of the auto-pilot or even better, gather information.
