A documentary series of screenshot photographs of Alejandro Cartagena's groundbreaking Cryptovoxels exhibition, '20th Century Photographs from the Archive of Alejandro Cartagena', the opening reception for which occurred on Friday, August 20th, 2021.

Before, during, and after the reception, photographic artist Gregory Eddi Jones produced screen captures to document the exhibition and explore the meaning of presence of 20th century photographs within the 21st century metaverse.

Cartagena's exhibition draws a clear fault line between the past and present of photography, and throughout the show, Jones sought to capture the dissonance and tension between old and new.

The images of this series utilize various strategies from 20th century documentary photography, and the works were produced with an attitude which both mourns the loss of an older form of the media and celebrates the potentials of 21st century technology.

25% of proceeds from this work are split with Alejandro.
