A small diner on the edge of Chicago’s South Loop. My friends and I are there countless times and the place holds a place in my heart. I snapped this picture after exiting the shop just as we passed by the window. Shooting it, editing it, looking at it, all were cathartic to me.
A series created based on my experience hiding my mental illness and drug addiction, the balloons represent the facade I carry with me everywhere I go. Making this series has been an awakening for me that being my true self as an artist is the only way to truly be successful in this space, and that the facade will just bring me down. This series inspired me to be me, even if that’s not always a smiley face
