The three-finger salute is a physical gesture. It is made by pressing three middle fingers of the left hand to the lips and then raising it to the air in a salute. Although the motion originated in the fictional dystopian book and film series "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins, since 2013, it has been used as part of pro-democracy movements in the United States and parts of Asia.
