'Bukchon Cat Village' was shot in Seoul, South Korea. The area is called Bukchon Hanok Village, and I always enjoy coming to this area as it is much quieter than other parts of the city. I used an infrared camera which let me capture the foliage in a way that makes it appear like cherry blossoms.
Infrared allows me to be more creative with my photography in the daytime. Anime plays an influence in my daytime photography, and I often find myself looking for scenes that would appear out of an animation. This image was shot in the daytime, but due to the nature of infrared, it can appear to be a night scene. I wanted to create something similar to what you might see in a Ghibli animation, a nice serene scene that is very peaceful to look at. In this case, I was thinking of the film 'The Cat Returns' when I created this piece.
'Bukchon Cat Village' is a special piece dedicated to the people who have believed in me and supported me in this art journey. My art pieces are slowly becoming harder and harder to obtain, and before they get to the point that they become unobtainable, I want to show my appreciation and thanks to everyone who has helped me get where I am today. Thank you very much!
