Transforming Sculpture in Metaverse #3

이윰은 한국최초의 퍼포먼스 아트 NFT를 선보인 현대미술가로서 스스로가 만든 조각작품을 입고 살아있는 조각품이 되는 대표적 퍼포먼스를 1995년부터 해왔다.

KlayRock의 NFT 아트 작품을 재해석하며 예술적으로 실험하는 이번 전시를 위해 IUM은 과거 현대미술계에서 발표 한 바 있는 퍼포먼스 아트를 위한 의상조각과 설치작품을 본 주제에 대입하여 NFT 작업으로 재창조 하였다.

갑옷처럼 보이는 이 의상 조각은 가벼우면서도 잘 휘어지는 물성을 가진 재료로 만들어져 있다. 그런 물성을 포착한 그녀는 각 조각들을 다양한 방식으로 조립-생성-해체하여 새로운 기하학적 형태로 구성하는 변형 조각을 만들어왔다.

그런 실험적 과정을 보여주기 위해 #1~#5의 연작으로 본 작업을 구성하였다.

그녀는 직접 의상을 착용하고 살아있는 조각으로서의 퍼포밍 포토를 찍었고, NFT 작품화 하였다.(#1~#4).

더 나아가 NFT화된 살아있는 조각들의 디지털 이미지를 현실과 가상세계를 가로지르는 메타버스 세계 안에서 하나의 연합체로 구성하여 전혀 예상하지 못한 독특한 형태의 디지털 생명체와도 같은 변형 조각으로 재창조 하였다(#5).

이 작품 외형은 끊임없이 변형되어 왔지만 그녀는 자신의 세계관을 대변하는 상징적 칼라를 통해 변치 않는 인간 존재의 본질적 메시지에 대해서도 말하고 있다.

이윰 에게 있어서 '빨간색'은 피, 생명, 사랑의 색깔이다. 또한 빨간색과 어우러지며 거울처럼 빛을 반사하는 은빛은 어둠속에서도 찬란히 빛을 발하는 영적인 존재로서의 힘을 의미한다.

IUM is a contemporary artist who presented Korea's first performance art NFT. Since 1995, she has been performing representative performances in which she wears her own sculptures and becomes a living sculpture.

For the theme of this exhibition, which reinterprets and artistically experiments KlayRock'ers NFT art work, IUM recreated the NFT work by substituting this theme for the costume sculptures and installation works previously announced in the contemporary art world.

This piece of clothing that looks like armor is made of a material that is light yet flexible. Capturing such properties, she assembles, creates, and dismantles each piece in various ways to create deformed pieces that form new geometric shapes. To show such an experimental process, this work is composed of series #1 to #5

She put on her own costume, took a photo of her performing as a living sculpture, and turned it into an NFT work(#1-#4).

Furthermore, the digital images of NFTized living pieces cross the real and virtual worlds, become a union in the metaverse world, and are recreated as deformed pieces like digital lifeforms of a unique form that were not expected at all(#5).

Although the appearance of her work has been constantly transformed, IUM also speaks to the essential message of an unchanging human existence through the symbolic colors that represent her own worldview.

For IUM, 'red' is the color of blood, life and love. Also, the silver light that blends with red and reflects light like a mirror signifies the power of a spiritual being that shines brightly in the dark. *Information about this work.
