The average cost to preserve an acre of the rainforest from logging, palm oil production, and mining is only $2. The average carbon storage of an acre of rainforest is 147.5 metric tonnes.

All profits (after gas and marketplace fees) from the original sale of each Millennium Cat Phase One token will be donated to the Rainforest Trust.

Each token represents roughly the cost of preserving one acre of rainforest at current ETH prices.

PHASES Phases are extemely tenative and subject to change

In Phase One, we will continue minting NFTs of the different versions of v1 Millennium Cats. Currently, 1 acre tokens are not sustainable because of high gas fees. Opensea announced a partnership with Immutable X to do gasless or nearly gas free transactions on Layer 2. Hopefully, this will change the game and make the 1 acre tokens more viable.

In Phase Two, assuming that this proof of concept works, we will seek to partner with Rainforest Trust, Rainforest Action Network, and other non-profits for a more widespread program with automated contracts for the proceeds of future tokens to be delivered to the organizations directly. Currently, this type of programming tech is not within my reach. For Phase Two to work, I'll have to find a volunteer technical partner to achieve this before approaching the organizations with this solution.

In Phase Three, assuming the previous phases are successful, we aim to create a new governance token that would allow voting on future projects and future uses of the proceeds. Again, this is only speculation. Securities lawyers would have to be consulted about the viability of and execution of this, the non-profits would have to be on board, and the tech would have to be bullet proof to protect everyone. A Rainforest Token foundation would also likely have to be set up. There's too many variables to even think about at this stage. BUT there's long term potential in this and so it's on the very distant horizon (subject to massive changes).

Rebuying the rainforest and putting it into trust protects Endangered and Critically Endangered species. It also preserves the way of life for indigenous people on those lands.
