Listening to Hip Hop back in the day felt different. The vibes were more about the black community and having a narrative in Hip Hop that spoke to the black community in healthy ways has always been one of the reasons why I gravitated towards the artform.

Queen Latifah represented herself in a way that was regal. One of my favorite songs of all time is U.N.I.T.Y. the melody fire, the lyrics were powerful... "Who you callin a bitch?"

Then she took her career into the movie and TV space and started to dominate with killer roles like Set It Off. This queen has shown how versatile she is not only in music but also in all of entertainment. She continues to shine bright for the black community and she is a powerful example of the fact that there are no limits.

The artwork was created on iPad Pro + Apple Pencil with Procreate.

For those of y'all who have been following my journey as an artist. This is my story continued.

Many people do not know I was adopted (By my father) when I was 5 years old. Because of this, I have so much respect for the people who step up to be stepfathers and stepmothers. Growing up not knowing my biological father left me wondering about my family history and my lineage. Asking the questions, "Who am I? Where did I come from? Where am I going? What do I want to do with my life?"

With the perspective of being mixed race, looking for mentors or guidance from one source didn't make sense. On top of my racial mixtures, I am also interested in a multitude of subjects & disciplines. From fashion, music, arts, sports, community, writing, content, business... the list is long.

I always looked for people from whom I could find guidance. Over the years I learned and stood on the shoulders of those that came before me.

These are people who, for one reason or another, I respect and admire.
