Ichinose Ichiki (Ichinose) and his parents live in Kuromori Village. He's a normal young boy who enjoys eating fruit. While watching from atop a hill, he witnesses the arrival of a fleet of ships that are accompanied by the eldest daughter of the Shogun, Aoi. Aoi introduces herself to the leader of Kuromori Village as a new immigrant to Kuromori Village. Ichinose then runs home to tell his friend Kaku-san, who happens to be the attendant and guardian deity of the Kuromori Shrine where the clan's guardian deity Kusanagi lives, about the ships and the arrival of Aoi to Kuromori Village. Meanwhile, Ichinose's father comes to bring Ichinose home from the hill. Later that night in front of the Kuromori Shrine, the guardian deity of the Kuromori Clan Kusanagi appears and speaks with Kaku-san. Kusanagi tells Kaku-san that a new era is approaching with the arrival of Aoi, and that someone must become the Chosen One in order to protect the world. Kaku-san then asks Kusanagi if it will be Ichinose, who possesses a similar aura to the Chosen One of the past who was able to fight the Yami, the army of darkness. Kusanagi says that Ichinose is not the Chosen One yet, but that Ichinose will become the Chosen One eventually.
