Mi Margarita' started as a simple design using just a few colors; pink, red, green and black and white back in 2012. I was all about simple designs back then, when I used to sell my work on eBay. I deliberately wanted to create something small, and with little detail; something to sell fast. Little did I know, that this little painting would sell again and again in prints. I always wanted to create a more elaborate painting of this concept.

I was recently asked from a visitor to the fine art America website for a very large version of my 2012 mi margarita. I had long ago sold the original, and I was unable to fill the request, since at the time, I did not have the proper equipment to photograph it and didn't have any good photos to be able to enlarge it. So, with this request , I decided to just recreate this idea. It's cool to see my progression over the years. Needless to say, I love Margaritas! Who doesn't?!

HCalderon Foods and Drinks DoD collection image

This collection features all my day of the dead kitchen, food and drinks that I have painted over the years. I am originally from Longmont, CO with strong family ties to Albuquerque, NM. After holding various waitress jobs, at age 24, I found a job, copying another artist's work on needlepoint designs, It was through this job, I learned how to paint. I took my new skill of painting and began creating my own pieces. It was in 2006, at age 27 that skeletons began making an appearance in my work. Beginning with a small skeleton tucked in a corner of a landscape, skeletons quickly became the subject of my paintings.
