Her attachment to Aswita (her surrogate Mother) shows here as Aswita crosses the bulging flood waters of the local river and Bona cannot follow due to her size, lack of strength and not yet being able to swim. Her cries from the river bank could be heard for miles.
A very personal photography project documenting the last of the remaining Sumatran elephants both in the wild and in captivity throughout the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. The documentary photographs are a direct record of life for the elephants of Sumatra being critically endangered with as few as 1000 remaining. This photography series will help bring to light the need to work to save these amazing animals and support through open sea and nft sales will help continue this much needed documentary series.
