The flowers show the artist from a softer angle, as the flowers are intimate symbols and signs of the delicacy of life. Although it can also be seen as a provocative series, with associations to the later counterculture of the flower-power, in the age of peace, love and anti-war protest in the 1960’s

The work was displayed in the Leo Castelli Gallery in an exhibition in 1965, when an entire wall was covered with dozens of 5 * 5 inch paintings (12 * 12 cm)
