I saw the cow laying on the side of the road. Pulled out my camera but she has barely died. Almost asleep. I went back to the hotel. Three days later, I came back. Her skin starting to rot, but still in place. No birds picking her flesh, no bones appearing. Again I left. Another two days, and four more. She didn't look exactly how I needed for the picture. In the end I've waited fifteen days for this picture. The birds helped me, the wind and above them all, Time. Call me cruel or cold hearted, but I needed to capture this exact Slice of Decay.

My name is Victor Ribeiro and during 2017 and 2018 I traveled across this land. What I've seen and lived there changed my photography and the way I see the world. The people and the land are unique, and even though it's a place known for misery and poverty, I saw paradise in many ways. This collection is composed of 30 1/1 photographs, each one telling a different story about the life in The Sertao.
1/3 of the sales will be donated to a NGO that helps people in the area. Giving back is a mission.
