gauGAN is a series of works using GANs or generative adversarial networks/machine learning to make animations from computer generated paintings and drawings. Training images include portraits at The Met Museum in New York and other works - spanning centuries of art history.

This project utilizes Python + TensorFlow + Adobe After Effects.

In the early 1960's Andy Warhol declared, "I want to be a machine," which was carried out by the mechanical reproduction of silkscreening art historical iconography including The Last Supper, still life paintings, and The Scream. However, it is now possible to let a machine become the artist by faithfully copying the styles of the great masters throughout time, and mapping them onto factory-produced masterpieces with amazing precision, style and speed.
