Warsaw, January 2015. Drone pilots and bystanders watching actually what was just behind me - a "crime scene", a gas explosion in one of the tenement houses on Koszykowa Street and, as it later occured, caused sadly by a man trying to kill himself. Fortunately no one died, even though the explosion did serious damage to the building and shattered the windows of the bus on the street and nearby buildings. The drone pilots were investigating from above, right after the incident, the scale of devastation in the area. The photo was part of the exhibition "Simplicity" in July 2016 in Warsaw and a series of my black and white street photographs. You can learn more about it following the link to my album's page on flickr. The owner of the item will unlock the link to download a tiff file used to print this image for the exhibition.
Photos chosen for the exhibition "Simplicity" 1-18 July 2016 in Warsaw, in Służewski Dom Kultury (SDK).The idea “simplicty” came to my mind when I was thinking about urban life and my street photography. I wonder on the contrast I see when observing city life – between something accidental, free, intuitive, spontaneous and the need of simplicity, order, peace and convenience. Photos were made in different European cities - Warsaw, London, Lisbon, Rome, Porto. But the context of a place is not relevant for me, instead important is their simple, black and white composition and the subject – city and people. To read more visit the website with the album.
