I make original composite portraits based on modern figures. I approach each piece with the question:

If this was a renaissance portrait of PERSON_X, what would it look like?

Part of the exercise is avoiding anachronistic elements. This means if I want to do a portrait of Kanye, he won't have sunglasses. As an artist, I like the "what if" scenario. So each portrait is a composite of classical art themes. For example, Anya Taylor-Joy conquered the European chess scene as Beth in The Queen's Gambit. What better portraiture of her than as Joan of Arc standing triumphantly in front of a castle or "rook".

I don't charge much, and I only sell one of each portrait. More than anything, I make the art because I love the subject and feel they belong in classical art.
