The irregular circular openwork form, concentric circular bans joined to an oblong handle bound with reed, the solid bands of alternating color are interwoven with bands of openwork zig zag motif. These yam headdresses were used in conjunction with a wicker yam mask to decorate yams during the annual yam harvest ceremony.
