The last of the winter ice clings to the canyon surrounding Overlander falls as spring takes hold. The falls are named after the Overlanders expedition of 1862 when a group of around 150 men with one woman (and her three children) travelled across the prairies and through the Rocky Mountains to BC, intending to reach the Cariboo goldfields. The falls are in the early mountainous stretches of the Fraser River which subsequently flows 1,375 kilometers (854 mi) downstream towards Vancouver. Mt Robson Provincial Park, British Columbia, Canada.

Intrepid Falls collection image

A collection of 66 shots from a lifetime of chasing waterfalls by IntrepidPhotos (Robert Downie Photography). Robert has spent the past twenty years travelling through over fifty countries seeking out the little known parts of this world. This collection captures the most memorable waterfalls experienced over his lifetime of work. Waterfalls hold a special place in the human psyche as they add a level of drama and romance to the lifegiving force that is running water.
