Stop being a Motherfucker.

The Earth is our Mother and yet we continue to fuck her. [1]

Our planet is dying and not enough of us care to actually do something about it.

Human beings offer our planet nothing but shit and trash. Unlike other species, like flies, bees or sharks, we serve no function. 
We’ve bred and spread like a virus and take over other species’ ecosystems and destroy them. We have made it to the top of the food chain until, it can be imagined, a virus takes us out.

Yet we continue to pollute our air and water which we rely on to survive.

We’re too busy trying to get by, or add to our pile, to worry about the environment or future generations. We’re going to die anyway, right? It will be someone else’s problem. Funny thing is that ‘future’ is coming at us fast and the tipping point where there’s no turning back is upon us now.

There are some people that complain about wearing a mask to stop the spread of COVID-19 yet there are some places where at times the air quality is dangerous to your health to go outside without wearing a mask. Ironically, during COVID-19 lockdowns the air quality improved vastly in many areas.

No matter what science or reports you choose to believe or base your actions on, there’s no denying seeing dramatic weather events; witnessing corporate environmental disasters with minimal accountability; watching forests and trees replaced by the sprawl of housing and industries; seeing blue skies turn grey; tasting the foul air and struggling to breathe without checking the AQI or knowing the PM 10/2.5 levels. This is now and most of us quietly accept this and live like there is no tomorrow, until there isn’t.

Now NFTs…..

Your NFTs being minted on, for example Tezos, is not going make any difference to the planet other than making you feel good about yourself. Forget NFTs, do you really think Crypto, let alone NFTs, around for a little over a decade, has made any significant impact on the planet? Seriously?

Crypto currency is a new financial system. If you want to compare the environmental impact of systems you must take into account the whole of the traditional financial system - not just printing off some money versus confirming a block on Ethereum or Bitcoin chains. If you want to compare the impact of NFTs and Web3, consider the impact of those industries in their totality.

Stop trying to feel good and start doing something real that will make a difference. Use renewable energy, consume locally and reduce your consumption.
