A meeting of two projects: DEATH PUNK x FOUNTAIN

There is nothing to do, it is just a waiting game now. The human species will destroy themselves. It is inevitable and almost complete. Yet still most of them live as if their planet, the very entity that sustains and nurtures them, is not dying. Just like they also live individually, in complete denial that their lives are short and they too will die, which most of them find comes much too quickly.

Just a matter of time; even with their limited life span they manage to not only repeat and perpetuate the mistakes of those before them, they seem to build on them and accelerate towards their own destruction.

They take for granted their environment, atmosphere, fertile lands and clean water. Although their feeble bodies need this nurturing world to sustain them it is unappreciated and exploited. Their stunted intellect understands this yet they behave as if it didn’t matter; as if they can just move on to another planet after they have destroyed this one.

Their contribution to the planet, the universe, is trash and shit. Trash - everything they ever build, create and spend their lives in pursuit of. None of it will last, it is all for nothing. Their excrement, their major biological product, taken at great cost from the earth but never appreciated and rarely reciprocated. They also fail to ever fully utilize and harness its energy and value.

Long ago they developed machines for their physical comfort and food production, enough for all but they choose to compete rather than co-operate; competing for ‘things’, their trash, often killing each other for them too.

They choose to pursue their ‘things’ instead of their own humanity. They do not pursue things that live forever like love, consciousness, co-operation and caring for each other. In this, their evolution for most took a different path and stagnated in the physical; spending their lives for trash - their ‘things’. They choose the seen over the unseen, things that decay rather than those that will live beyond them.

Even if they stop their pointless industry and pursuit of ‘things’ now it is too late. The end will be soon and even though scientists have told them this for years, the news will seemingly come as a surprise. Most won’t even believe it as it happens, as they burn and gasp for the oxygen that keeps them alive.

It is over, yet most of them don’t even accept it or maybe they just don’t care. There are some for whom the concept of time is different, who have evolved through their pursuit of those things that last to a higher level of consciousness, of being.

The time has come for the next significant evolutionary process of the human species. Those that remain on the physical, their bodies will feed the earth, their trash will perish. Those that have evolved and transcended, they can thrive in this world and they will, and should they choose, return to the stars.

FOUNTAIN:

FOUNTAIN is a new stage in conceptual art - the remix factory from Bard Ionson. The project asks ‘what is art?’; ‘who can make it?’ It is inspired by the Fluxus movement. The ‘Fountain Performance’ is for the artist and collector; an ongoing live performance of remix and rebirth of art and ideas that you can become involved in too. Fountain’s intent is to encourage everyone to make art out of everything.

For me this project goes to the heart of art, Cryptoart and what TrashArt principles mean to me. The ‘democratization of art’ (Jay Delay), copyright and concepts of ideas and their ownership. A place without gatekeepers dictating who can create and what they should create. Cryptoart’s (relatively) permissionless system, along with the people in it, have given me ‘permission’ and confidence to create, to re-discover the joy of creating and a venue to express how I feel and make my voice heard through art. This is such a gift!

What is art?

Life becomes more beautiful when we open our minds to what art is, and realize and appreciate that art is everywhere, it’s all around us. It’s only our preconceived ideas that prevented us from seeing this before. In a sense, we can choose this.

This idea is also where the ‘Child’ in my pseudonym, CryptoChild, originates from: to live, to love, to learn child-like; without prejudice or preconceived ideas. To experience the wonderment of life through these eyes: our breath, the world around us and the beings we share it with; fresh, new and with appreciation, with ideas and questions. We can choose this too.

‘Fountain’ and other iconic pieces like [‘God’,](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_(sculpture) celebrate one of our greatest contributions to civilization - pipes and plumbing. Ironically, as a species, our sole contribution to the planet is shit and trash.

We can accept and embrace our potential pointlessness and celebrate systems and design which funnel away our excesses (shit and trash) to make us feel advanced and civilized.
