025b - RUTAMFI - "All for Show" - Edition of 30

"All for Show" By RUTAMFI

A 3D digital exploration about the way we have content for materialistic glimmers and shiny textures and how it's only common to focus on the glittery surfaces like jewelry and metals to the point we create an animated façade. But that's all there is to, that's all folks.

Bio:

RUTAMFI is a Haitian-American Multimedia Illustrator. She indulges in the visual language of character design to examine the ideas of capitalist consumptions, identity, and self-awareness of first-world culture. RUTAMFI is a visual storyteller creating culturally engaging motifs combining manga-style character designs, graphic images, and digital components with streetwear, hip-hop, anime, and sneaker culture. By utilizing art direction methods and mixed media techniques she further conceptualizes her illustration interests. RUTAMFI's goal is to have the viewer become aware of the place and time we currently reside in and to understand that many of the items and objects we interact with can become a part of our identity. Her works stem from an illustration of a character that can be deemed underrepresented, usually black and female. She fits the character into outfits from fashion magazines and clothing accessories that can be bought, sold, and resold for hundreds of dollars and meant for wealthy figures. RUTAMFI subverts those items to make them fit in a rugged and aggressive fashion. By embracing the things that societies and cultures might deem as publicized, she adds an anti-establishing element to overtake expectations.

Superchief Season 1 Starter Pack collection image

Superchief Gallery is the world's 1st physical dedicated NFT gallery space. Since we opened our first digital art gallery in Soho back in 2016, Superchief has held the belief that digital-native artwork was an essential art form to include as part of the larger art movement of our era. We have had been running our version of a traditional art gallery space since 2012 and by 2016 we knew well that there wasn't a clear way to monetize digital artwork. But we felt strongly that just because we couldn't sell it at the present time, didn’t mean it should be kept apart from the art community at large. These are artists we feel are brilliant and exciting, and should be part of the cultural exchange.
