From 21 to 29 June 1984, Philipp J. Bösel and Burkhard Maus photographed a specific section of the Berlin Wall (Bernauer Strasse - Treptower Damm Weg). The aim was to encounter this structure conceptually. The result was "Die vermessene Mauer". Measured - à double sense: on the one hand, the Wall was supposed to prevent communication between the people of the districts - certainly a measurement; on the other hand, approximately 18.5 km of the Wall were photographically fixed, quasi measured. The procedure meant adherence to conceptual guidelines with regard to graphic representation and the spatial conditions found. On the basis of this stringency, the project "The Measured Wall" was realized.
The result: 1000 monochrome photographs
