Coastal Sunrise #3 is my 2017 photograph from Assateague Island, Maryland. The island is an uninhabited barrier island known for the wild ponies that have existed on the island since the late 17th century. This particular morning there were no ponies on the beach as the conditions were less than ideal, with winds blowing up the coast at a constant 20-30mph with gusts over 40mph. Having survived being sandblasted all morning, the weather conditions definitely contributed to the beautiful sky color and cloud formations. I took the original photo and digitally altered it to create this unique original cinemagraph which allows the animated process to really showcase the incredible sky. What is a Cinemagraph: A cinemagraph is a still photograph that has specific areas with repeated movements, forming an animated video clip.
The buyer receives the full HD MP4 file available as a download.
My Coastal Sunrise collection contains handpicked images from my personal original photography. I have digitally altered these images to create unique one-of-a-kind Cinemagraphs.
As a photographer, my mission is to create an image that will draw the viewer into the scene and offer them an escape to a place that can provoke feelings of serenity and happiness. I like to think of it as “art therapy”. For close to 20 years now I have been photographing these wonderful beaches but as the years have gone by I have realized the photos also offer an ability to look back in time. Beaches around the world are quickly changing and the East Coast beaches are no exception. As beach erosion plays an ongoing factor for these beach towns their seascapes can change quickly. I can look back at some of my photos that are 10 years old or even 3-5 years old and those same beaches look very different today. So in addition to providing art therapy, I now realize that my photography also offers an archiving
