The Philippines' most impressive export is its people. And of the 2 million Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) around the globe, 25% of those dedicate their lives to saving and caring for others - which makes the next statistic all the more tragic: the biggest supplier of nurses in the world also accounts for an outsized number of nurse deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic. Back home in the Philippines, the biggest risk is not the number of beds or ventilators: it's nurses burning out.

This is the first of three in a series: the NFT is based on a real-world stamp that is physically held in my collection. This Philippine postage 2-centavo stamp, depicting national hero Dr. Jose Rizal, was printed in 1906. The NFT was created 115 years later in 2021.
