"Tedslittledream is a project that I started back in grad school. Due to the lack of time and money, I couldn’t really travel much. So I began using the power of imagination to escape reality to my surreal, fantasy world. My work is heavily influenced by studio Ghibli films, many different manga, anime, novels, movies, and surreal artworks. You will often see giant creatures in my artwork, because, like many mythological tales, they are being used in symbolic form. Since I really love nature and have great respect for it, I create them as guardians and spirits, an essence of nature. This is my way of showing how we can encounter and embrace them in the most mysterious way. But sometimes, I simply like to create surreal ideas and challenge myself, like Dali, Rene are also my inspirations. One reason why I keep creating art is that I believe that we all possess the great power of imagination and often, lost in the chaos of everyday life, forget to use this amazing power. So it's my passion to inspire and remind people to use it more often. I wanted to inspire others and bring a smile to their face just the same way I was inspired by art growing up." - Ted Chin
