For one week out of the year, this area transforms into something that always takes my breath away. The glacial moraine that makes up this valley is covered in aspen, and given the perfect conditions leading up to the autumn season, these aspen put on a beautiful display of color. I am no stranger to this exact location, as I visited it every year during the fall in hopes of capturing it during peak color. Year after year, my timing is either a little too early or a little too late. Being that Rocky Mountain National Park is both at a higher altitude and has a dryer climate, the aspen change at an accelerated rate. This leaves me a very small window of time in which to witness this natural spectacle. The perseverance finally paid off, and the experience of hiking through the towering golden aspen surpassed my every expectation. I returned to the same spot I had photographed the previous years, only this time I had a strong feeling that I was about to capture something special. This was the moment I had dreamed of capturing for a long time, and it was unfolding right before my eyes.
