Artist Im Young-jae destroys space-time and breaks away from the unique concepts of writing and painting. Destroyed time and space are gathered in one frame to superimpose images. Focus on creating a new image by destroying the boundaries of dimensions rather than the relevance between individuals. Therefore, logic is not important in his work.

Pay particular attention to the shape of the manuscript paper seen in his work. He paints pictures as if he were writing on manuscript paper. By destroying the space between the characters and the picture, a picture like a text or a picture like a picture is expressed.

Im Young-jae, the founder of the world's first thick Matiel woodcut painting using extinction techniques, is now an honorary professor of College of fine arts, Ulsan University in South Korea. Through this technique he uses, the layers of time and space are represented from old images of memory to present images.

임영재 작가는 시공간을 파괴하고 문자와 그림이 각각 가지고 있는 고유 개념에서 탈피한다. 파괴한 시공간을 한 프레임 안에 집합시켜 이미지를 중첩시킨다. 각 개체 간의 연관성 보다 차원의 경계를 파괴하여 새로운 이미지를 창조시키는 것에 집중한다. 그렇기 때문에 그의 작업에는 논리가 중요하지 않다.

특히 그의 작업에서 보이는 원고지의 형상에 주목하라. 그는 그림을 문자화시켜 원고지에 글씨 쓰듯 그림을 그린다. 그렇게 문자와 그림 그사이를 파괴하여 텍스트 같은 그림, 그림 같은 텍스트를 표현한다.

또한 임영재 작가는 세계 최초로 소멸기법을 이용하여 두툼한 마티에르 목판화를 만드신 창시자이며, 현재 대한민국 울산대학교 미술학부의 명예교수이다. 그가 사용하는 이 기법을 통해, 과거부터 현재까지의 시공간 이미지를 두꺼운 물감 층으로 나타낸다.
