Frida Diety is the first in my newest series about the artist Frida Kahlo. This piece illustrates how her bus accident as a young woman changed her perspective both as a person and an artist. The bus accident resulted in an iron handrail impaling her through her pelvis. Also quite unusual was the fact that she got covered with gold-flecked paint while she was injured on the bus. It is quite miraculous that she survived.

Her injury forced her to become introspective as she spent so much time alone after her endless surgeries. I believe it was this experience that sped up her artistic pursuits.

I have a strange connection to Frida Kahlo which I will be exploring in future artworks. My connection has something to do with the Patron Saint of Postcards.
