Little William had an odd habit of collecting his chewed up gum. Bubbalicious was his absolute favorite because of how big the pieces were and how sweet the flavor was. But those Bubbalicious pieces were too just a LITTLE too big for his little jaw, and often hurt. So William went through his gum quickly. In a little under 3 months he had a pile of gum in the corner of his room so large that the top of it touched the ceiling of his bedroom. At the right angle, the pile of gum looked like it had a face. And even teeth. This thought made William laugh. "One day," he said to the gum pile, "I'll have enough gum for you to come to life and be my friend!" Later that night, William woke up, startled. The moonlight was shining on the gum pile. And, to his surprise, it moved. It got up, just as William had hoped. "I knew it! Now I am finally gonna have a friend!" Except...I don't think the bubble gum was very friendly. The following morning, William's parents found little William dead under his blankets, his eyes covered in chewed up gum. The gum pile was nowhere to be found.
