"The Quicksand Castle Of Aghadya" 3D Fractal Art by Spaced Painter 2015 Resolution 10240x7680

This 3D Fractal Art piece is a Spaced Painter Classic, one the very first fractal artworks I’ve ever created (2015) now finally out of the Spaced vault in all it’s full res glory. This Fantasy 3D Fractal Land still inspires me to this day as a magical place that I want to dive into and continue to explore as it shapeshifts through ETHernity.

A curious fact is that, despite the appearance of being 2D painted, this piece is actually a pure 3D Fractal of which mathematical code I’ve manipulated until the desired shapes were achieved and then the whole environment was coloured only through the projection of a lightmap that I’ve painstakingly adjusted over many hours of work until I felt the sense of change in my Vision was best manifested.

The theme of change and how it permeates the human condition is beautifully put into words by Jorge Luis Borges: "Nothing is built on stone; all is built on sand, but we must build as if the sand were stone." - As transient creatures we must live Today as if this ongoing present were forever, in the knowledge that our mortal individual existence is bound by the limitations of Form and Time. Nevertheless, this limitation is what allows for Being itself, as without change occurring through the canvas of Time there would be no form and thus no material physical existence to be experienced.

"The only constant in life is change" indeed as per the Heraclitus maxim, as is That formless Self which observes and stays constant outside the permeable matrix of Time. Ever changing within form as well as always permanent outside of it, That Is which goes by a thousand names. That Is Atman in the Hindu Vedic tradition. That Is what starts, ends and changes everything - That Is Your Self.
