"Book of Revelation" is my first crypto art piece created as a video, complete with audio. (The piece "Stay Safe", although tokenized first, was only my second crypto video piece.)
This artwork is inspired by "Revelation 17" from the Apocalypse of John, part of the Christian Bible, which I see as part of the cultural heritage of mankind. Although I find it interesting, that one could see a connection to the current events in early 2020, I have no intentions to send out a religious message. Any parallel is without a conscious intention.
The digital animation is largely based on a painting on glass (https://peakd.com/art/@reinhard-schmid/whore-of-babylon-surrealistic-approach-to-the-apocalypse) and elements of a bigger artwork I created about tarot. The advantage of video is that one can tell a story in a sequence of short scenes:
Once Babylon riding the "animal" appears on screen, the part with the devil starts to develop in the background. Eventually a binary text appears and is coming from his mouth in the end:
"Riding the ultimate beast, the mushroom cloud of a nuclear blast, here comes Babylon, the great whore from the book of revelations."
Eventually, the horizontal and vertical bars of a cross, literally cross out the devil, symbolizing the triumph of the lamb and the faith in Christ.
