I thought on the relation of Artists and Collectors. It was early rich patrons, the 'Italian Medici family', a political dynasty, became prominent with Cosimo Medici in Florence Italy, from first half of the 15th century. The family originated in Tuscany area, prospered well, established the Medici Bank. Their Bank was the largest in Europe during the Renaissance period & their political power rose too, in N. Italy. They officially remained citizens, than monarchs until the 16th C. The Medici's financed building construction, as Saint Peter's Basilica. They were patrons of creators/inventors, Brunelleschi, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Machiavelli, Galileo, & others prominent in arts and sciences.
