Unlike many in 8SIAN's Goddess collection, the Mongolian warrior princess Khutulun was not a figure of myth but a real figure in history! She is famed for being the progeny of Genghis Khan and stories have it that she rejected 1000 grooms-to-be by beating them in wrestling.
Turandot, a fictional character famed in Western works, is believed to have been inspired by the fearsome Khutulun. Whist in Mongol culture she is celebrated as a famed warrior and athlete, in Western depictions she is usually portrayed as a proud woman who inevitably falls in love.
Our artist was inspired by the beauty of tribal accessories, and took the opportunity to showcase them on Khutulun. An eagle in the background symbolizes Mongolian's tradition of hunting using the Golden-Eagle and their primal bond with the creature.
