This small series of 10 NFTs was mainly driven by thoughts of our insignificance in this space. While space in my mind first wasn't meant literally: with Twitter being now (September 2021) probably the most effective NFT marketing tool, I feel humbled and even a bit belittled by everything that is going on around me. Even though "we are early", I felt small and insignificant in this crypto/NFT/Twitter space - and I still do. One day, I sat down, drew the backgrounds by applying several sponges with acrylic paint to the paper and worked from outside in with colours getting brighter. In nine out of ten paintings, this being one of them, I added a glitter powder for an extra effect. I then took photos while the paintings were not dried yet, and since I used thinner paper on purpose, it was not entirely flat. Since I used the sun as a natural light source, the sun indeed added a shimmer that got even more intense in the digital after-process. Since especially the effects added by the sun became visible during the post production, I 'discovered' them basically then and there, and so the title part of the "Discoveries" was born.

About "Monika's Art": my name indeed is Monika, and while I was born and raised on a farm in Germany, I had the chance to live and work abroad for 10 years in my first job. This led me to Austria, the UK, Dubai in the UAE, New Zealand, and -briefly- India. I am now back in Germany with my husband and our six tortoises. We both share a deep interest and appreciation for other cultures and languages, and we try to build bridges whereever we can. A lot of inspiration comes from other regions of the world with an accent on Asia and Scandinavia. I work as a doctor's assistant as a day job, and I have a little side business (just me) decorating cakes. While I always created art throughout my life, I seldom dared to show it really, so the blockchain is indeed the first time I am 'outing' myself here - which is a huge step for me. Driven by life-long struggles with my self-worth, depression and anxiety, creating always has been and still is a way of expressing what is going on inside and cannot be expressed by words yet. This sometimes leads to spontaneous, creative outbursts, often changing the flow from my original intention. In most of the cases, finding the words for the title in the end is the expression of what was previously unspoken. - I'm glad you are a part of this journey now. For this, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude.
